Pig director Michael Sarnoski is in talks to direct A Quiet Place spin-off
Michael Sarnoski directed last year’s Pig which starred Nicolas Cage. It is a brilliant movie and one of my favourites from last year. Sarnoski is currently in negotiations to direct the next installment of Paramount’s A Quiet Place.
According to Deadline, this new film is being described as more of a spinoff than a threequel, but there are no plot details at the moment.
Jeff Nichols (Take Shelter) was previously attached to write and direct the untitled film, but he is now focussing on his new project, another untitled sci-fi movie for Paramount.
A Quiet Place and its sequel are based on an original idea from John Krasinksi, who wrote, directed and starred John Krasinski. It is unlikely that Emily Blunt or Krasinski will return for this new film, but that may end up changing.
Having seen the previous two films and Pig, I do feel Sarnoski will be a good fit for this cinematic sci-fi world. The fact it is not a direct sequel also intrigues me.
Michael Bay, Andrew Form and Brad Fuller are all returning to produce the film for Platinum Dunes. Krasinski will also produce through his Sunday Night banner, with partner Allyson Seeger serving as executive producer.
