New Spider-Man Marvel Trilogy Confirmed, Starring Tom Holland

Spider-Man: No Way Home has proved to be a big movie that, not only throws Doctor Strange, played by Benedict Cumberbatch, into the mix, but it also features multiple villains from across other Marvel multiverse. This includes Alfred Molina as Doctor Octopus, Willem Dafoe as Green Goblin, Jamie Foxx as Electro, Thomas Haden Church as Sandman, and Rhys Ifans as the Lizard, to mention a few. The challenges that our friendly neighbourhood Spider-Man faces in this movie are something that we have not seen before on the big screen.

No Way Home was said to complete the trilogy that Sony Pictures and Marvel Studios set out to make, starting with 2017’s Homecoming and 2019’s Far From Home. However, Spider-Man’s popularity started way before these movies. Spider-Man Marvel comics have been around for decades, as well as movies starring Tobey Maguire starting in 2002. Spider-Man has also seeped into other industries including action figures, merchandise, video games and various slot games offered at some of the best online casino sites.

However, much to our delight, No Way Home produced Amy Pascal has confirmed that, while this is really the end of the Homecoming trilogy, this will not be the last time that we see Holland in the suit.

Pascal reveals that, ‘This is not the last movie that we are going to make with Marvel – [this is not] the last Spider-Man movie. We are getting ready to make the next Spider-Man movie with Tom Holland and Marvel. We’re thinking of this as three films, and now we’re going to go onto the next three. This is not the last of our MCU movies.’

This news comes only days after Tom Holland said in a separate interview that he might be ready to move on from the role after the recent No Way Home movie. ‘Maybe it is time for me to move on,’ said Holland. ‘Maybe what’s best for Spider-Man is that they do a Miles Morales film. I have to take Peter Parker into account as well, because he is an important part of my life. If I’m playing Spider-Man after I’m 30, I’ve done something wrong.’

Holland also claims that he does not foresee him being an actor for the rest of his life. ‘I might start shooting The Crowded Room [a film project he co-scripted with brother Harry] and go, ‘You know what, this is what I’m going to do for the rest of my life.’ Or I might do Spider-Man 4, 5, and 6, finish when I’m 32, and never make another. I’m not sure what I want to do.’

Well, according to Pascal, the latter is definitely happening for Tom Holland! The question is how long we have to wait for the next trilogy to hit the big screens. Holland previously had claimed that ‘If we were lucky enough to dive into these characters again, you’d be seeing a very different version. It would no longer be the Homecoming Trilogy. We would give it some time and try to build something different and tonally change the films.’

Spider-Man: No Way Home is set to release in UK cinemas on 15th December and then US theatres on December 17th.
