The Railway Children Return in the trailer for the new film
STUDIOCANAL has released the first trailer and poster for The Railway Children Return, opening in UK cinemas in 2022.
BAFTA & Emmy Award-winning Jenny Agutter resumes her role as Roberta from the original THE RAILWAY CHILDREN and is joined by BAFTA-winning Sheridan Smith (CILLA), Academy Award nominee & BAFTA-winning Tom Courtenay (45 YEARS, BILLY LIAR) and John Bradley (GAME OF THRONES).
The new generation of Railway Children are Beau Gadsdon (THE CROWN, STAR WARS: ROGUE ONE), KJ Aikens, Eden Hamilton, Austin Haynes and Zac Cudby.
Directed by BAFTA-winning Director Morgan Matthews (X+Y), THE RAILWAY CHILDREN RETURN shot in key locations in Yorkshire from the original film including Haworth, The Brontë Parsonage, Oakworth station and the iconic railways from the original film (all part of the Keighley & Worth Valley Railway).
THE RAILWAY CHILDREN RETURN was written by BAFTA-winning Danny Brocklehurst (BRASSIC, Red Productions’ THE STRANGER, THE FIVE, SAFE and COME HOME), based on a treatment by the BAFTA and award-winning producer Jemma Rodgers. Rodgers also produced the film for STUDIOCANAL.
Inspired by one of the most beloved British family films of all time, THE RAILWAY CHILDREN RETURN is an enchanting adventure for a new generation, bringing a contemporary sensibility to a classic story and combining British cast with stunning locations.
Picking up nearly forty years after the events of the original film, THE RAILWAY CHILDREN RETURN will take audiences on an exciting and heart-warming journey, in which a new group of children are evacuated to a Yorkshire village during World War 2, where they encounter a young soldier, who like them, is far away from home…
The original 1970 film THE RAILWAY CHILDREN is a key title in STUDIOCANAL’s celebrated Vintage Classics collection.
The fully restored Blu-ray and DVD release includes a retrospective documentary and interviews with key original cast members. The film is also available to own on Digital across all major retailers.
