A Quiet Place spin-off

Paramount has just put an untitled A Quiet Place movie on the calendar for March 31, 2023. This is the one that Jeff Nichols is writing and directing. It’s not a threequel, but rather based on an idea from John Krasinski.

The pic is very early in development and simply being billed as the next installment, broadening the post-apocalyptic world introduced in the first two movies – Deadline

John Wick 4

Donnie Yen, Shamier Anderson and pop star Rina Sawayama have joined the cast of John Wick 4. There are no plot details yet, but the film is due out on 27th May 2022.

Brothers

Glenn Close will star alongside Josh Brolin and Peter Dinklage in the upcoming Legendary comedy Brothers, which will be directed by Palm Springs helmer Max Barbakow.

Etan Cohen, the writer behind Tropic Thunder and Get Hard, penned the screenplay with Macon Blair.

Story details are being kept under wraps, but Brolin and Dinklage are to play unlikely brothers. Sources say the project harkens tonally to Twins, the 1988 Ivan Reitman comedy toplined by Arnold Schwarzenegger and Danny DeVito –THR

Cruella 2

Cruella has been a great success for Disney and the studio is already planning a sequel with director Craig Gillespie and writer Tony McNamara.

A statement from Disney said, “We are very pleased with Cruella’s box office success, in conjunction with its strong Disney+ Premier Access performance to date. The film has been incredibly well received by audiences around the world, with a 97% Audience Score on Rotten Tomatoes in addition to A’s in every demographic from CinemaScore on opening weekend, ranking it among the most popular of our live-action reimaginings. We look forward to a long run as audiences continue to enjoy this fantastic film.”

Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, Dwayne Johnson and Beau Flynn have teamed up for Emergency Contact, an original action project that has landed at Warner Bros.

Details of the pitch are being kept hidden in a studio panic room, but Emergency is described as being a high-concept, high-octane action film set amid the underground music scene in Austin, Texas – THR

The Matrix 4

Christina Ricci is set to be in Lana Wachowski’s upcoming The Matrix 4.

In an updated press kit from Warner Bros., Ricci’s name was added to the cast list. Keanu Reeves, Carrie-Anne Moss, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, Priyanka Chopra Jonas, Jonathan Groff, Neil Patrick Harris, Jessica Henwick, Christina Ricci, Telma Hopkins, Eréndira Ibarra, Toby Onwumere, Max Riemelt, Brian J. Smith, and Jada Pinkett Smith round out the cast.

Ricci has previously worked with Lana in 2008 on the Wachowski’s Speed Racer.

The fourth Matrix is scheduled to premiere in theaters Wednesday, Dec. 22, 2021, instead of April 1, 2022 – Deadline

Spider-Man: Into The Spiderverse sequel

Issa Rae (HBO’s Insecure) has joined the voice cast of Sony Pictures Animation’s sequel to Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse.

Rae becomes the first addition to the franchise’s roll call that includes Shameik Moore and Hailee Steinfeld, who are reprising their roles of Miles Morales, aka Spider-Man, and Spider-Gwen respectively.

Plot details are being kept hidden in the circuits of a super-collider but will continue to feature an array of Spider-characters drawn across Marvel Comics’ time and space. According to sources, Rae will voice Jessica Drew, aka Spider-Woman – THR
