David Lowery’s The Green Knight gets a new trailer

The Green Knight is the new film from David Lowery (A Ghost Story, The Old Man and The Gun). It is a fantasy film based on the Arthurian tale of Sir Gawain and the Green Knight.

It was originally due out back in May 2020, but we all know why it was pushed back, and it will now be with us in July. I have been looking forward to seeing it and A24 has released this new trailer.

It describes how Sir Gawain, a knight of King Arthur’s Round Table, accepts a challenge from a mysterious “Green Knight” who dares any knight to strike him with his axe if he will take a return blow in a year and a day. Gawain accepts and beheads him with his blow, at which the Green Knight stands up, picks up his head and reminds Gawain of the appointed time.

Dev Patel, Alicia Vikander, Joel Edgerton, Barry Keoghan, Sean Harris, Kate Dickie, Emilie Hetland and Ralph Ineson star, with Patel playing Sir Gawain.

The Green Knight is out on 30th July 2021.
