The 2021 Oscar Winners are…

The 2021 Academy Awards took place last night and it saw Nomadland win three Oscars including Best Picture, Best Actress for Frances McDormand (which is her third acting Oscar after Fargo and Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri), and Chloé Zhao made history as the first woman of colour and second woman to win Best Director.

Sir Anthony Hopkins and Daniel Kaluuya won awards Sir Anthony, 83, is the oldest winner of Best Actor, while Kaluuya is the first black British actor to win an Oscar – in the supporting category.

Korean star Yuh-jung Youn won Best Supporting Actress for her role in Minari.

British actress-turned-writer/director Emerald Fennell won a screenplay award for Promising Young Woman, which she also directed.

Thomas Vinterberg’s Danish film Another Round won Best International Feature Film. Pixar’s Soul was named Best Animated Feature and Netflix’s My Octopus Teacher won the Oscar for Best Documentary.
