Anton Yelchin has passed away

Anton-Yelchin

This is absolutely terrible news, but it seems that Anton Yelchin (Star Trek, Green Room) has died as a result of a horrible accident. He was only 27.

According to TMZ he was killed early Sunday morning after getting pinned by his own car. Yelchin’s friends became alarmed because he was supposed to meet them hours earlier for a rehearsal. They went to his San Fernando Valley home at around 1 AM and found him pinned between his car and a brick mailbox, which was attached to a security gate. Law enforcement tells us the engine was running when his body was discovered, and the car was in neutral.Police do not suspect any foul play.

Yelchin was born in Russia in 1989, and moved to the US. His first role was on E.R. in 2000. He starred in lots of films and even if they were not that good he was always fantastic. I first remember seeing him in Charlie Bartlett and he popped up in Terminator Salvation. He was great as Odd Thomas and was recently seen in the excellent Green Room. He also played Chekov in J.J. Abram’s rebooted Star Trek franchise, and will be seen in Star Trek Beyond. He was also cast in the upcoming Stephen King adaptation, Mr. Mercedes.

Yelchin’s publicist confirmed the death.

Absolutely tragic news.
