The Mad Max: Furiosa prequel casts Anya Taylor-Joy, Chris Hemsworth and Yahya Abdul-Mateen II
We knew that Charlize Theron would not be playing the younger version of Imperator Furiosa in the prequel spin-off from 2015’s Mad Max: Fury Road.
At the time, director George Miller had said they’d thought about using the de-ageing CGI, but decided to go with a younger actor to play Furiosa and Anya Taylor-Joy (The Witch, Split) had been rumoured.
Variety is now reporting that Anya Taylor-Joy will indeed be the young Furiosa. She will also be joined by Chris Hemsworth (Thor) and Yahya Abdul-Mateen II (Aquaman, Candyman).
There is no word on the actual plot, but Miller had worked out backstories for all the characters in the 2015 film.
Miller will direct, co-write and produce Furiosa, along with his longtime producing partner Doug Mitchell. The film will be produced by Miller’s own Australian-based Kennedy Miller Mitchell banner, together with “Fury Road” partner Warner Bros. Pictures.
