Hidden Gems: Top 5 Video-Game Based Movies to Watch

The entertainment industry offers us numerous ways to have fun. For example, you can use a no deposit bingo bonus and enjoy 75-ball, 90-ball, and other variants in gaming rooms inspired by video games, movies, etc.

Video games serve as a film inspiration more often than you might think. Over the years, we have seen hundreds of movies inspired by popular PC and console releases. Not many of them lived up to the standards, but many went under the radar. In this article, we selected five movie gems inspired by video games that you should watch if you haven’t so far!

(The New) Tomb Raider (2018)

We all remember the movies where Angelina Jolie was in the role of Lara Croft. It seems that the actress’s beauty was the only good thing in these films. That is why the producers took a different turn – instead of making a third sequel, they decided to do a reboot.

The fantastic Alicia Vikander played Lara Croft in what turned out to be a great movie. The producer decided to base the film on the game’s reboot from 2013, and that turned out to be a great move. You can expect plenty of action and a decent plot, which makes Tomb Raider from 2018 worth watching.

Rampage (2018)

Those who played Rampage know how incredibly fun it is to be a monster that destroys an entire city. Although it was a surprise when moviemakers decided to shoot a film based on this game, we were excited to watch it.

Rampage is exactly what you expect – a movie with plenty of action and smashing. The story revolves around a team that tries to stop the infected animals from stomping Chicago. If you liked Godzilla, you would love this movie!

Dead or Alive (2006)

Fighting games are acceptable material for movies, which is why we’ve seen multiple Tekken and Mortal Kombat movies. While you probably watched those, the Dead or Alive film never reached that level of popularity.

It is a shame because the film offers that good old fun where you can relax and enjoy fighting scenes (and some skin shown by the characters). The plot features four females invited to a martial arts tournament. Although they start as competitors, they realise it is necessary to team up to reveal the secret behind the contest!

Ratchet & Clank (2016)

Ratchet & Clank star in a series of games that we can enjoy on PlayStation consoles. In 2016, a movie was made based on these characters.

The story is classic – a space captain threatens the galaxy, which means our favourite robot and mechanic need to save the world. Ratchet & Clank is a decent animated movie, and Silvester Stallone gives his voice to one of the characters!

Assassin’s Creed (2016)

This movie was the biggest take on the successful franchise developed by Ubisoft. Instead of focusing on a single moment in time, Assassin’s Creed emphasises the war between the Templars and the Creed order.

While it is not as spectacular as the games, the film is worth watching. The creators left room for a cliffhanger, but it doesn’t seem like we will see it made any time soon.
