His Dark Materials Season 2 gets a trailer and a Fleabag reunion

Adapting Philip Pullman’s award-winning trilogy of the same name, which is considered a modern masterpiece of imaginative fiction, the first season follows Lyra, a seemingly ordinary but brave young woman from another world. Her search for a kidnapped friend uncovers a sinister plot involving stolen children, and becomes a quest to understand a mysterious phenomenon called Dust. As she journeys through the worlds, including our own, Lyra meets Will, a determined and courageous boy. Together, they encounter extraordinary beings and dangerous secrets, with the fate of both the living  — and the dead -  in their hands.

His Dark Materials stars Dafne Keen, Ruth Wilson, Lin-Manuel Miranda, Amir Wilson, Andrew Scott, Ariyon Bakare, Ruta Gedmintas, and Will Keen.

Check out the new trailer below, which gives us a glimpse of the Subtle Knife and the city of Cittàgazze.

Andrew Scott is playing Colonel John Parry. During the show’s Comic-Con@Home panel Scott announced there would be a Fleabag reunion of sorts as Phoebe Waller-Bridge will voice Parry’s dæmon Sayan Kötör.

Scott said his dæmon would be played by “someone who is very close to me in my real life: a young performer and writer called Phoebe Waller-Bridge.

I’m really thrilled about that because it’s all about companionship and friendship and loyalty, and that’s what I feel about Phoebe in real life”

The second season hits HBO later this year.
