Top 5 movies featuring roulette

The big screen and gambling are a perfect match, and there have been many fantastic gambling movies over the decades. From James Bond to Casablanca, here are five iconic movies every roulette fan needs to watch.

1. Casablanca

Casablanca is a classic movie that ranks among the top 50 movies in the world on IMDb. The story revolves around Rick Blaine, the owner of a nightclub in Casablanca during World War 2. In the movie’s infamous roulette scene, Rick approaches a young couple who tries to raise enough money to go to America by playing roulette. He tells them to put their chips on 22, and sure enough, the lucky number rolls in – twice in a row. Then he casually tells them “Cash it in and don’t come back” before leaving the table. Smooth.

2. Diamonds Are Forever

James Bond is no stranger to casinos. Agent 007 has visited casinos in movies like GoldenEye and Casino Royale, and he can usually be found at the craps or poker tables. In Diamonds Are Forever, Bond goes undercover to expose an underground diamond smuggling operation, and the journey takes him to Las Vegas. Of course, the movie has him playing several types of classic casino games, including roulette and craps. It is here the agent meets up with the movie’s Bond girl, Plenty O’Toole.

3. California Split

California Split is a 1974 comedy-drama directed by Robert Altman. The plot follows Bill Denny and Charlie Waters, two friends who share a mutual love for gambling. Unfortunately, Bill develops a gambling problem and goes into debt to his bookie. Bill and Charlie eventually take a trip to Reno where they pool their cash to stake Bill in a game of high stakes poker. After winning a large amount, Bill goes on a hot-streak on roulette, craps and blackjack. In the end, the two friends split the winnings and go their separate ways.

4. Indecent Proposal

Gambling has its highs and lows, and luck can change with the blink of an eye. If you are a fan of classic casino games or play online roulette in websites such as TeleVega casino, you probably know this already. The thrill of roulette is beautifully portrayed in Indecent Proposal, a 1993 drama film that features stars like Demi Moore, Robert Redford and Woody Harrelson. The movie follows David and Diana Murphy, a married couple who travels to Las Vegas in hopes of winning enough money to fund David’s real estate project. Predictably, this bold plan doesn’t work out, and the couple ends up losing all of their life savings on roulette. What follows next is a great drama that involves a billionaire who might have what they need – for a price.

5. Run Lola Run

Run Lola Run is an experimental German thriller from 1998. It has won several awards over the years and was nominated as an entry for the Best Foreign Language Film at the 71st Academy Awards.
