The post-apocalyptic Zorro movie lives again
I first reported on the Zorro Reborn movie way back in 2011. Since then it has been in development hell, but it appears they are dusting off the mask to try once more.
Lantica Media and Sobini Films are behind this latest attempt. Lantica, the media company led by CEOAntonio Gennari that works in production and financing as well as studio space, will finance the movie with a plan to begin principal photography March 2016 in Pinewood Dominican Republic Studios.
Reborn is set in the near future but keeps the idea of a masked and caped stranger taking on tyrants.
“Every generation has its own Zorro hero and we’re proud to be able to introduce a new Zorro to this generation,” said Gennari.
Making Zorro into a legacy hero does make sense (that’s exactly what they did with the Antonio Banderas movie) and explains how, if the legend continued, someone would become Zorro in the future. It has been done before in the Zorro: Generation Z cartoon (as the top image shows). However, I just can’t get behind the idea of a futuristic Zorro. Maybe it’s just me, but do you like the idea a post-apocalyptic Zorro?
