Some Must-See Upcoming Movies of 2019

Since the start of the year, there have been numerous film releases which have really caught the eye and proved immensely popular among viewers across the globe, and with several months remaining in 2019, there are still plenty of movies to be excited about. While titles such as Avengers: Endgame, High Life, Toy Story 4, Transit and many more have already demonstrated the variety of entertaining films available this year, numerous highly anticipated releases are still to come before the close of 2019.

Joker

Todd Phillips’ upcoming film, which is titled Joker, is set to become the latest in a line of comic-based movies upon its release on the 4th of October. With the genre being hugely popular among many film fans, Phillips’ latest title is an American psychological thriller which is centred around the DC comic book character, the Joker.

The starring role of the Joker is played by Puerto Rican actor Joaquin Phoenix who features alongside Oscar winner Robert De Niro. With the release featuring some of the biggest names in the industry, whilst also being directed by an Oscar nominee in Todd Phillips, the standalone film based on the iconic villain is likely to prove a hit with fans of the genre. It’s already rumoured to be an awards contender.

Moreover, with the movie being based around Arthur Fleck’s transformation into the Joker, Phillips’ upcoming release offers an insight into the untold background of the character’s very origins.

Angel Has Fallen

On the 23rd of August, Ric Roman Waugh’s upcoming movie, Angel Has Fallen, is set to be released onto the big screens in the United States. It’s the third film in the Olympus Has Fallen film series. The title itself which features iconic names including Gerard Butler, Morgan Freeman, Jada Pinkett Smith, and Piper Perabo, is an action-based film with the main premise being a secret service agent seeking to clear his name following a failed attempt on the President’s life.

With a star-studded cast, Angel Has Fallen possesses all of the ingredients needed to become an instant classic, especially given the history that Morgan Freeman has of starring in iconic titles. In a recent list where Lottoland looks at 20 inspiring movies that could prove life-changing, Million Dollar Baby, which features Freeman, ranks fifth on the list. Freeman’s character, Eddie Dupris, plays an integral part early on in the film as he helps to convince Frankie Dunn (Clint Eastwood) to train Margaret Fitzgerald (Hilary Swank) in a convincing performance from the legendary actor.

Lion King

Perhaps one of the most highly anticipated releases of the year, Jon Favreau’s The Lion King is scheduled to be released on the 19th of July. Following the title’s immense success on its initial release back in 1994, the remake is currently on course to break pre-sale records.

While the updated version does not stray away from the original storyline, the digitally enhanced remake is likely to pull on heartstrings as we once again follow Simba’s journey from adversity to revenge. Furthermore, much like Angel Has Fallen, The Lion King features a star-studded cast which features names such as Beyonce, Billy Eichner, Donald Glover and Seth Rogen as Walt Disney Pictures look to repeat the success of the original film.

Plenty Still to View

With many months remaining of 2019, there are a number of huge titles nearing their release dates. Although there is a huge array of choices on offer, Joker, Angel Has Fallen and The Lion King have the potential to be three of the biggest releases of 2019.
