Transparent Creator Jill Soloway is working on the Red Sonja movie
Millennium Films has been working on a Red Sonja movie for over 10 years, but things seem to be moving forward once again.
Robert Rodriguez and Rose McGowan had been going to make the film back in 2008 but that all fell apart. Then Bryan Singer (X-Men) was brought on board. However, various allegations in his private life have meant he is no longer involved.
Now THR is reporting that Jill Soloway, who created Amazon’s Transparent, is going to write and direct the adventures of Red Sonja.
I do love a bit of fantasy action so I have been looking forward to a new Red Sonja movie since it was announced many years ago. I have no idea who will play her or what the plot will involve, but I just want a good movie. It is great to know that the project is not dead.
Red Sonja is a fictional character, a sword-and-sorcery comic-book heroine created by writer Roy Thomas and artist Barry Smith for Marvel Comics in 1973, partially based on Robert E. Howard’s character Red Sonya of Rogatino.
Millennium’s Avi Lerner and Joe Gatta are producing alongside Cinelou’s Mark Canton and Courtney Solomon.
