John Wick: Chapter 4

John Wick 4 has been confirmed and given an official release date, following a huge opening weekend for the franchise’s third film. Chapter 4 will be with us on 21st May 2021.

Just Cause

Derek Kolstad, the creator and writer of John Wick, has been tapped to kick-start Just Cause, the adaptation of the hit video game franchise. From Avalanche Studios and Square Enix, the four games in the franchise follow Rico Rodriguez on a race-against-time mission to stop The Black Hand, a lethal mercenary group – THR

Tom & Jerry

Michael Peña will play the antagonist in Warner Bros’ live-action/aminated take on the classic cartoon, Tom & Jerry, which Tim Story is directing. Peña joins previously announced star Chloe Grace Moretz, who leads the film as Kayla, a new hire at an elegant Park Hotel where Jerry is staying. Worried for her job, she hires a broke alley cat, Tom, to get rid of the mouse.

Peña’s character, Terrance, is the deputy general manager of the hotel. A bit of bully, he hires Kayla as a temporary hire only to end up pitted against her and Tom/ Jerry once she starts impressing upper management – Deadline

Wallace & Gromit

Wallace & Gromit should be back on screens in the next couple of years, with creator Nick Park telling The Hollywood Reporter he has ideas for a few new adventures for the calamitous couple.

While Park is not ruling out another Wallace & Gromit movie, it’s more likely the pair will feature in multiple shorts for the small screen. “I think having just reached (age) 60, you sort of start to think how much can I do, you know?” says Aardman director Park. “And I’ve got so many ideas, and feature films just take so long. So, I’m not saying ‘no’ but at the moment, a half hour seems far more attractive I must say.”

Humans

Humans has been cancelled.

The Invisible Man

Leigh Whannell’s The Invisible Man has a release date – 13th March 2020. Filming on the Universal and Blumhouse movie begins this summer. The film follows Cecilia (Elisabeth Moss), who receives the news of her abusive ex-boyfriend’s suicide. She begins to re-build her life for the better. However, her sense of reality is put into question when she begins to suspect her deceased lover is not actually dead.

Lair

John Hannah, Corey Johnson and Oded Fehr (who all starred in The Mummy) will star in Lair, billed as a socially conscious horror movie about an LGBT family embroiled in one man’s attempt to prove the existence of the supernatural. Katarina Cas, Julian Kostov, Alexandra Gilbreath and Jen Brister also star. Ditto Films will produce, and Adam Ethan Crow writes and directs.

The film follows self-proclaimed occult expert Dr. Steven Caramore (Johnson), who ekes out a living debunking claims of possession, haunting and anything supernatural for a quick buck. When a friend (Fehr) accused of murder claims he was possessed by a demon, Caramore has to test his own beliefs. Hannah stars as his lawyer – Variety

Napoleon Dynamite

IDW Publishing will be bringing Napoleon Dynamite, the beloved cult classic, to comic books in September! Written by the sibling team of Carlos Guzman-Verdugo and Alejandro Verdugo (of the outrageous indie sensation Time Cheetah), with art by Jorge Monlongo (Adventure Time), the new four-issue Napoleon Dynamite series takes us back to Idaho, where Napoleon’s best friend Pedro is student body president. But the good times might not last when a fellow student accuses Pedro of cheating in the election. Can Napoleon and Deb use their special skills to clear their friend before the principal can “Impeach Pedro”?

Slash/Back

Sierra/Affinity has boarded rights to novel sci-fi Slash/Back about a group of girls in the Arctic fjords who must fight off an alien invasion.

Pic will follow Maika and her ragtag group of friends who discover an alien invasion in their tiny arctic hamlet. It’s up to them to fight back using makeshift weapons and their horror movie knowledge. Sierra is shopping on the Croisette – Deadline

Swamp Thing

Check out some new images from the Swamp Thing TV show. It stars Derek Mears, Crystal Reed, Jennifer Beals, Virginia Madsen, Ian Ziering, Will Patton, Andy Bean, Kevin Durand, Henderson Wade, Jeryl Prescott and Maria Sten.

The DC Universe show is with us on 31st May and centres on CDC researcher Abby Arcane (Reed). When she returns to her childhood home of Houma, Louisiana, in order to investigate a deadly swamp-borne virus, she develops a surprising bond with scientist Alec Holland — only to have him tragically taken from her. But as powerful forces descend on Houma, intent on exploiting the swamp’s mysterious properties for their own purposes, Abby will discover that the swamp holds mystical secrets, both horrifying and wondrous — and the potential love of her life may not be dead after all.
