Taika Waititi is working on a Time Bandits TV show
Taika Waititi (Thor: Ragnarok, What We Do In The Shadows) is working on a new TV adaptation of Terry Gilliam’s Time Bandits. The series will be for Apple.
Waititi will co-write and direct the pilot for the potential series for Apple, according to The Wrap.
A young boy accidentally joins a band of time travelling dwarves, as they jump from era to era looking for treasure to steal.
Waititi is also directing an episode for Disney+’s upcoming Star Wars TV series, The Mandalorian.
The 1981 film was co-written by Gilliam and Michael Palin.
It is being co-produced by Anonymous Content, Paramount Television and Media Rights Capital. He also will serve as executive producer alongside Gilliam and producer Dan Halsted.
This will be the second time a Gilliam film has been adapted for a TV show as 1995’s 12 Monkeys was made into a Syfy show that ran for 4 seasons.
