Hobbs and Shaw

Waltzing With Brando

Billy Zane is producing and starring in a memoir adaptation of Bernard Judge’s Waltzing With Brando. The book tells how the mercurial actor picked Judge, then an obscure yet idealistic Los Angeles architect and turned his world upside down. Brando convinced Judge that he should build the world’s first ecologically perfect retreat on a tiny, uninhabitable Tahitian island. It’s set mostly between 1969 and 1974. Bill Fishman will write and direct the film – Empire

Uncharted

Dan Trachtenberg (10 Cloverfield Lane) has replaced Shawn Levy to direct the Uncharted adaptation for Sony Pictures. The film stars Tom Holland and chronicles Drake’s first encounter with the professional rogue Sullivan. I still think they will be hard-pressed to match the short film starring Nathan Fillion.

Hobbs and Shaw

The top image shows Dwayne Johnson’s Diplomatic Security Service agent Luke Hobbs and Jason Statham’s assassin Deckard Shaw in the Fast and Furious spin-off. They are joined by Idris Elba who will play the villain known as Brixton.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles

It looks like the Turtles are getting rebooted once again, this time by the producers of A Quiet Place.

Sopranos prequel

Jon Bernthal and Vera Farmiga are joining New Line’s The Many Saints of Newark, a prequel movie to the critically acclaimed HBO series The Sopranos. Plot details are vague other than the film being set during the Newark riots in the ’60s. The exact roles of Bernthal and Farmiga have yet to be revealed. More players from the “Sopranos” lore are expected to be joining the cast – Variety

Lady Sif

Marvel is working on a few live-action limited series for the Disney+ channel. Loki is the only one that has been officially confirmed, but it looks like there will also be ones for Vision and The Scarlet Witch, Rocket And Groot, Falcon And The Winter Soldier and Nick Fury. It seems we may also be getting a Lady Sif series starring Jaimie Alexander (Blindspot) if the rumours are true. She already played the Thor character in Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. and it would be great to see her return to the role – DiscussingFilm

The Simpsons

Thanos has visited Springfield for a new opening of The Simpsons.

Final Destination

New Line is restarting its Final Destination horror franchise and hiring Patrick Melton and Marcus Dunstan to write the script. Plot details for the sixth installment, which is being billed as a re-imagining of the franchise, were not revealed. Melton and Dunstan are horror vets best known for penning four of the Saw movies. They were winners on season three of Project Greenlight and also wrote Piranha 3DD. They penned the upcoming Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark for CBS Films and are working with horror producers Platinum Dunes on an untitled Christmas horror project set up at Sony and on The Reckoning at Paramount – THR
