It looks like James Cameron’s new Avatar movies may have now got full titles
James Cameron’s Avatar came out way back in 2009. It was a hell of an experience seeing it on the big screen in that gorgeous 3D. However, the story itself was never quite as satisfying as I had hoped.
No matter what you did think of the plot, you have to admit it still has some of the best use of 3D.
Cameron has been busy working on four Avatar sequels and they had just been referred to as Avatar 2, Avatar 3, etc.
The BBC are now saying they have seen documentation which features the following names – Avatar: The Way of Water, Avatar: The Seed Bearer, Avatar: The Tulkun Rider and Avatar: The Quest for Eywa.
I have no idea if the films will end up with these titles, but they are better than just using numbers.
James Cameron has mentioned on many occasions that the new films will be diving into the oceans of Pandora so The Way of Water definitely works as a title if they are all correct.
He has also revealed that Kate Winslet, who he worked with on Titanic, was joining the Avatar series playing “a character who’s part of the Sea People, the reef people.”
Eywa in The Quest for Eywa appears to be a reference to the deity and goddess of the Na’vi people who inhabit Pandora.
The four Avatar sequels are due to be released in December 2020, December 2021, December 2024, and December 2025.
What are your thoughts on the titles and has Cameron left it too long to bring us new films set on Pandora?
