The Random: Bad Times at the El Royale, Roseanne, Zack Snyder, Mega Man 11, Uma Thurman, Guillermo del Toro action figure and more

Uma Thurman is set to star in Chambers, Netflix’s upcoming hour-long supernatural drama from Stephen Gaghan and Super Deluxe. The show follows a young heart attack survivor who becomes consumed by the mystery surrounding the heart that saved her life. However, the closer she gets to uncovering the truth about her donor’s sudden death, the more she starts taking on the characteristics of the deceased — some of which are troublingly sinister. Thurman will play Nancy, the mother of the heart donor who forges a hesitant relationship with the young recipient only to find out her daughter may not be as dead as she thought – Deadline

– A new image has been released (below) for Drew Goddard’s thriller Bad Times at the El Royale. The films takes place in the 1960s at a rundown hotel, centring on a cast of characters whose own shady agendas will violently collide: “Seven strangers, each with a secret to bury, meet at Lake Tahoe’s El Royale, a rundown hotel with a dark past. Over the course of one fateful night, everyone will have a last shot at redemption… before everything goes to hell.” It stars Chris Hemsworth, Jon Hamm, Dakota Johnson, Jeff Bridges, Cailee Spaeny and Nick OffermanEmpire

Zack Snyder’s next film will be an adaptation of Ayn Rand’s 1943 novel The Fountainhead.

Dylan Sprouse is set to topline Turandot, a China-produced film directed by Xiaolong Zheng based on a screenplay from Xiaoping Wang. He’ll star alongside Chinese actress Guan Xiaotong. Described as a fantasy romance, the plot follows Princess Turandot (Xiaotong), who is cursed by a mysterious power emanating from three Mazovian bracelets that were given to her as birthday gifts. These bracelets’ life-draining effects cause the princess to becomes cruel, and gradually she loses her humanity. Foreign princes who come to court her must solve three riddles — one for each bracelet — and only then will she be freed from the power of the bracelets. In the event any of the questions is answered incorrectly, the attempted solver would be put to death. One day, Calaf (Sprouse), an ordinary citizen, risks his life to answer the riddles to save her and inadvertently uncovers his own extraordinary past – Deadline

Roseanne has been cancelled after the star posted a racist Tweet. “Roseanne’s Twitter statement is abhorrent, repugnant and inconsistent with our values, and we have decided to cancel her show,” ABC Entertainment president Channing Dungey said Tuesday. Early Tuesday, star, head writer and exec producer Barr attacked Valerie Jarrett, a senior adviser to former President Barack Obama, in a since-deleted tweet in which she said “Muslim brotherhood & planet of the apes had a baby=vj.” Barr subsequently apologized: “I apologize to Valerie Jarrett and to all Americans. I am truly sorry for making a bad joke about her politics and her looks. I should have known better. Forgive me — my joke was in bad taste.” THR

Mega Man 11 is heading our way. Capcom’s new game will be out on the PS4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC on October 2nd, 2018.

– There is a Guillermo del Toro action figure heading our way! NECA has produced the figure as part of their Guillermo del Toro Signature Collection, which also features Santi from The Devil’s Backbone and Pale Man and Faun from Pan’s Labyrinth. The del Toro figure is a limited edition of 2,000 and will be available to buy for $40 from the NECA booth at this year’s Comic-Con in San Diego. The action figure also comes with a replica of the notebook Del Toro used to record his notes and sketches for Pan’s Labyrinth- EW
