John Krasinski is set to direct Life on Mars

After the huge success of A Quiet Place it looks like John Krasinski has found his next project.

THR is reporting that Krasinski will team up with the producers of A Quiet PlaceMichael Bay, Andrew Form and Brad Fuller — to make Life on Mars.

The film is based on a short story by Cecil Castellucci called We Have Always Lived on Mars – The story follows a woman who is among a handful of descendants of a Martian colony long-abandoned by Earth following a cataclysm. The woman one day finds she can breathe the air on Mars, upending her world and that of her fellow colonists.

Nina, one of the few descendants of human colony on Mars that was abandoned by Earth, is surprised to discover that she can breathe the toxic atmosphere of the Martian surface. The crew, thinking that their attempts at terraforming and breeding for Martian adaptability have finally payed off, rejoice at the prospect of a brighter future. But Nina’s about to unlock the mystery of the disaster that stranded them on Mars… and nothing will ever be the same.

Paramount is in talks to pick up the project. There is currently no screenwriter attached, but it does sound like an interesting project.
