Zack Snyder’s Rebel Moon – The Director’s Cut will be with us in August

Delve further into the mythology and madness of Zack Snyder’s epic sci-fi saga in the viciously sexier, bloodier world of Rebel Moon — Chapter One: Chalice of Blood and Rebel Moon – Chapter Two: Curse of Forgiveness.

So not only are they new cuts of the films they have new names as well. Rebel Moon – Part One: A Child of Fire is now Chapter One: Chalice of Blood, Part Two: The Scargiver is now Chapter Two: Curse of Forgiveness. The is no word on the runtime for the new cuts.

In Snyder’s director’s cut, a peaceful settlement on a moon in the furthest reaches of the universe finds itself threatened by the armies of the tyrannical Regent Balisarius, and Kora (Sofia Boutella), a mysterious stranger living among the villagers, becomes their best hope for survival. Tasked with finding trained fighters who will unite with her in making an impossible stand against the Motherworld, Kora assembles a small band of warriors — outsiders, insurgents, peasants, and orphans of war who share a common need for redemption and revenge. As the shadow of an entire Realm bears down on the unlikeliest of moons, a new army of heroes is formed.

I have only watched the first Rebel Moon film and did not enjoy it. If you did then that is fine with me, but I just felt it was a poorly put together mess of clichés populated by ill defined characters, and with too much slow motion. That’s obviously just my opinion and I am not asking for anyone to change my mind on them, just as I am not trying to change your mind if you liked the films.

That being said, I am probably going to watch the first of the Director’s Cut versions just to see what the changes are like and if there is any improvement. If there is then it begs the question, why not just release the better version of the film and bin off the other one. I always felt the rating reason was a bit of a cop out.

The films star Sofia Boutella, Djimon Hounsou, Ed Skrein, Michiel Huisman, Doona Bae, Ray Fisher, with Charlie Hunnam and Anthony Hopkins as the voice of ‘Jimmy’. Also starring Staz Nair, Fra Fee, Cleopatra Coleman, Stuart Martin, Ingvar Sigurðsson, Alfonso Herrera, Cary Elwes, Rhian Rees, Elise Duffy, Jena Malone, Sky Yang, Charlotte Maggi, and Corey Stoll.

Both of the new Chapters will hit Netflix on 2nd August. Will you be watching them?
