The Fantastic Four
Sources tell Deadline that Emmy winner Julia Garner (Ozark) is set to play a Shalla-Bal version of the Silver Surfer in Marvel Studios’ The Fantastic Four. She joins Pedro Pascal who will play Reed Richards (aka Mr. Fantastic), Vanessa Kirby is Sue Storm (aka the Invisible Woman), Joseph Quinn is Johnny Storm (aka the Human Torch) and Ebon Moss-Bachrach is Ben Grimm (aka the Thing).
This news seems to confirm Galactus will be the big bad of the film and possibly that this film will begin in an alternate universe than the main 616 MCU.
In the comics Shalla-Bal was the love interest of Norrin Radd, the first Silver Surfer. She and Norrin lived on the planet Zenn-La before Norrin became the Silver Surfer and the Herald of Galactus to protect his people.
Matt Shakman is directing Fantastic Four off a script by Josh Friedman, Jeff Kaplan, Eric Pearson and Ian Springer. Production will begin this summer, and the film is set to bow on July 25, 2025 – Deadline

The Matrix 5
Warner Bros. has announced that a fifth Matrix movie is in development. It’ll be the first installment without Lana or Lily Wachowski as directors. The Martian screenwriter Drew Goddard will handle direct. He will also write the script and produce with his partner at Goddard Textiles, Sarah Esberg. Lana Wachowski, who helmed 2021’s “Resurrections,” is attached as an executive producer.
Plot details haven’t been revealed. It’s not clear who from the Matrix universe will return, but Warner Bros. Motion Pictures president of production Jesse Ehrman teases that the story will advance the fantasy world without straying too far from what made the series a success.
An ironic but not unexpected announcement. In The Matrix: Resurrections there was a scene when Neo is talking to Smith who says “Things have changed, the market’s tough, I’m sure you can understand why our beloved parent company Warner Bros. has decided to make a sequel to the trilogy, they have informed me they will do it without us.”
When Neo claims that he “thought they can’t do that”, Smith adds that Warner Bros. most certainly can and went on: “And they made it clear they’ll kill our contract if we don’t cooperate.
“I know you said the story was over for you, but that’s the things about stories they never really end do they? We’re still telling the same stories we’ve always told just with different names, different faces, I’ve got to say I’m excited, after all we’re going back to where it all started — back to The Matrix.”
“Drew came to Warner Bros. with a new idea that we all believe would be an incredible way to continue the Matrix world, by both honoring what Lana and Lilly began over 25 years ago and offering a unique perspective based on his own love of the series and characters,” Ehrman said in a statement. “The entire team at Warner Bros. Discovery is thrilled for Drew to be making this new ‘Matrix’ film, adding his vision to the cinematic canon the Wachowskis’ spent a quarter of a century building here at the studio.” – Variety
Dune 3 / Nuclear War: A Scenario
Denis Villeneuve is in discussion to reunite with Legendary for an adaptation of Annie Jacobsen’s Pulitzer Prize finalist “Nuclear War: A Scenario,” Variety has confirmed. Legendary also confirmed that it is working with Villeneuve to develop a third “Dune” film.
Legendary optioned the feature film rights to Jacobsen’s nonfiction book; Villeneuve is currently in talks with the studio to produce, adapt and/or director. His producing partner Tanya Lapointe would also be a part of the project.
Released on March 26, Jacobsen’s book “explores a ticking-clock scenario about what would happen in the event of a nuclear war, based on dozens of exclusive new interviews with military and civilian experts who built the weapons and have been privy to the response plans and have been responsible for those decisions should they have needed to be made.” – Variety
