Alien: Romulus movie is set between Alien and Aliens
There is an Alien TV show in development, which recently cast Timothy Olyphant, along with a new film to be directed by Fede Álvarez (Don’t Breathe).
Cailee Spaeny (Priscilla, Pacific Rim: Uprising) will star in the film. Alvarez wrote the screenplay with Rodo Sayagues.
Spaeny spoke to Variety at during The Gotham Awards and she gave us some more information on the film.
I like trying to do as many different things as I can. So I swapped my high heels and my beehive for spacesuits and lots of wire work. … I love watching those old ‘70s, ‘80s action sci-fi films. And I’m such a fan of that IP and Sigourney Weaver. It’s legendary to get to be a part of it.
It will be interesting to see how well it slots between the two films. Hopefully, there won’t be any major changes and it does continue to sound like the focus is going to be on the xenomorphs as opposed to the AI focus of Prometheus and Covenant. I am cautiously optimistic about this new film.
Part of me still wishes we had got to see the Neill Blomkamp Alien film that would have taken place after Aliens and brought Sigourney Weaver and Michael Biehn back.
The new film from Momentum and 20th Century Studios, with Ridley Scott producing through his Scott Free banner, will release through the Hulu streaming service as Prey did this year.
Alien: Romulus currently has a release date of 16th August 2024.
