Take a look at the first image from Robert Eggers’ Nosferatu
Robert Eggers (The Witch, The Lighthouse, The Northman) has been working on a remake of Nosferatu. The first image has been released and it shows Lily-Rose Depp and the shadow of Count Orlok’s hand. For this new film, the count is played by Bill Skarsgård. The 1922 original was remade back in 1979 by Werner Herzog and 2000’s Shadow of the Vampire took us behind the scenes of the original film.
Willem Dafoe, Nicholas Hoult, Emma Corrin, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Simon McBurney and Ralph Ineson (The Witch) also star in the film.
“It’s a scary film. It’s a horror movie. It’s a Gothic horror movie. And I do think that there hasn’t been an old-school Gothic movie that’s actually scary in a while. And I think that the majority of audiences will find this one to be the case,” Eggers told Empire. “I’ll say that Bill has so transformed, I’m fearful that he might not get the credit that he deserves because he’s just… he’s not there. I think the main thing is that he’s even more a folk vampire. In my opinion he looks like a dead Transylvanian nobleman, and in a way that we’ve never actually seen what an actual dead Transylvanian nobleman would look like and be dressed like.”
The Focus Features film does not yet have a release date but is due out at some point next year.
