Jon Bernthal will return as The Punisher for Daredevil Born Again

It had been rumoured for a while, but it looks like Jon Bernthal is returning as Frank Castle / The Punisher for Daredevil: Born Again. This would see the character join the MCU.

THR had the news that Bernthal would be joining Charlie Cox and Vincent D’Onofrio for the new 18 episode series, which begins filming in New York this month. Writers and executive producers Matt Corman and Chris Ord are behind the show which is due next year.

Born Again takes its title from a landmark Daredevil storyline published in 1986, written by Frank Miller and drawn by David Mazzuchelli. Daredevil versus Wilson Fisk, aka the Kingpin, will be te main thrust of the story. The Punisher did not appear in that story arc, but previous rumours had it that Daredevil was initially on the search for Krysten Ritter’s Jessica Jones. It was then said to have changed to him looking for The Punisher when Ritter was not available due to prior engagements.

Little else is known about the new series. So far it does not look like Deborah Ann Woll and Elden Henson, who played Karen Page and Foggy Nelson, will be returning. I hope they do as I felt they both did a great job in the roles.
