Tom Hiddleston returns for a second series of The Night Manager
Tom Hiddleston is returning to the role of Jonathan Pine for a second series of The Night Manager. David Farr, who adapted the original series from the John le Carré story, is back to write Season 2.
Deadline had the news that Season 2 will film later this year in London and South America, under the codename Steelworks, with a two-season order. They also say it has yet to be formally greenlit by Amazon and the BBC.
The original series won two Emmys and three Golden Globes, and Pine, the night manager of a luxury Cairo hotel and former British soldier who is recruited by the manager of a Foreign Office taskforce to infiltrate Richard Roper’s inner circle.
Following British arms dealer Richard Roper (Hugh Laurie) being taken away by the Syrians at the end of Season 1, Hiddleston’s Pine is informed he is dead two years later, and he has to face up to a new, even more deadly challenge.
The new series is thought to be set in the present day.
The Hindi adaptation of The Night Manager starring Aditya Roy Kapur as Pine and Anil Kapoor as Roper launched earlier this month on Disney+.

It’s great to see Tom Hiddleston is to star in another season based on John le Carré’s Night Manager. It’s also back in fashion in India but the reviews for that are mixed but that is a tad like the maestro himself. John le Carré’s novels are perfection yet in real life whilst David Cornwell was a great character and a brilliant writer, as a spy did he have more Achilles heels than feet?
