Michael Lewis’ The New New Thing is optioned for a new feature film

Filmmaker Richard Dewey’s Convexity Films production company (Radical Wolfe, Burden) has optioned Michael Lewis’s influential book The New New Thing, to be adapted into a narrative feature film. Three of Lewis’s previous books have been adapted into Academy-Award-nominated films: Moneyball, The Blind Side, and The Big Short. He is known for his ability to take complex subjects of contemporary economics and make them accessible and engaging for a broad audience.

The project, produced by Dewey, will be developed on an accelerated timeline. Brian Kaufman, a Los Angeles-based private equity manager, is executive producing.

Richard Dewey is a New York-based writer and filmmaker who recently collaborated with Michael Lewis on his feature documentary Radical Wolfe, about author and journalist Tom Wolfe. The film was adapted from Lewis’s acclaimed Vanity Fair article How Tom Wolfe Became…Tom Wolfe. Dewey’s first film, Burden, was a feature documentary about the art world provocateur Chris Burden which was released by Magnolia Pictures.
