Watch the trailer for the new French adaptation of Alexandre Dumas’ The Count of Monte Cristo

Entertainment Film Distributors has announced the 30th August 2024 for the theatrical release of Pathe’s blockbuster The Count of Monte Cristo exclusively in cinemas throughout the UK and Ireland.

The target of a sinister plot, young Edmond Dantes is arrested on his wedding day for a crime he did not commit. After fourteen years in the island prison of Château d’If, he manages a daring escape. Now rich beyond his dreams, he assumes the identity of the Count of Monte Cristo and exacts his revenge on the three men who betrayed him.

The film is written and directed by Matthieu Delaporte and Alexandre de La Patellière and stars Pierre Niney in the role of Edmond Dantès.

Based on Alexandre Dumas literary masterpiece, The Count of Monte Cristo, which had its world premiere Out of Competition at the 2024 Cannes Film Festival, opened in France with an impressive $10,000,000 box office in its first week.

The film also stars Bastien Bouillon, Anaïs Demoustier, Anamaria Vartolomei and Laurent Lafitte.
