Captain America: The First Avenger: The Art of the Movie – The latest book for Marvel Studios’ The Infinity Saga is now with us
This is the 4th of the 24 Marvel Cinematic Universe Infinity Saga film titles being published as a complete set.
This fully illustrated volume sheds light on how Marvel Studios’ Captain America: The First Avenger was created, including concept art, drawings, movie stills, and storyboards. Follow the film’s complete artistic evolution, from casting and costume design, to the creation of characters, environments, weapons, and war machines, and on to the final rendering seen on screen.
Here is everything you need to know about the making of the movie from all the key players – including director Joe Johnston, Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige, co-producer Stephen Broussard, the amazing cast, and all the talented individuals who worked on the set and behind the scenes to create the art of Captain America.
I got sent a preview copy and as with all of The Art of the Movie books, it is absolutely stunning. Each page, printed on premium glossy paper, bursts with vibrant full-colour imagery. It covers every facet of the film’s design: from intricate costume details to meticulously crafted vehicles, from captivating concept art to dynamic storyboards.
Lots of lovely images of the various designs for Cap’s Shield which were great to see. The different looks for the Red Skull could have well led to a more horrifying experience on the big screen.
With a seamless blend of film stills and looks to the character’s comic book origins, this book offers a comprehensive exploration of Captain America’s cinematic journey. It really shows how much work goes into designing the look of a film.
Captain America: The First Avenger: The Art of the Movie is out now.
