Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Last Ronin is getting a live-action R-rated film adaptation
Paramount Pictures is developing a live-action adaptation of the excellent Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Last Ronin comic book mini-series.
Who is the Last Ronin? In a future, battle-ravaged New York City, a lone surviving Turtle embarks on a seemingly hopeless mission seeking justice for the family he lost.
What terrible events destroyed his family and left New York a crumbling, post-apocalyptic nightmare? All will be revealed in this climactic Turtle tale that sees longtime friends becoming enemies and new allies emerging in the most unexpected places. Can the surviving Turtle triumph?
The creators of the Turtles, Kevin Eastman and Peter Laird, reunited for the mini-series along with Tom Waltz. Esau & Isaac Escorza and Ben Bishop were on art duties.
It is a brilliant story and I highly recommend picking up the collected edition.
IDW released the comic books between 2020 and 2022. The collected trade paperback was the second-highest-selling graphic novel of 2023, according to Circana BookScan.

Tyler Burton Smith, who co-wrote the upcoming R-rated action movie Boy Kills World is writing the script for the film which will be R-rated. I am glad they are going for the older audience with this one as it is a darker story.
What would you like to see in the live-action adaptation?
