Train To Busan and Peninsula are heading to 4K

Experience a double bill of genre-defining South Korean horror this May with the critically acclaimed TRAIN TO BUSAN and its follow-up TRAIN TO BUSAN PRESENTS: PENINSULA, both making their long-awaited debut on 4K UHD Blu-ray from 27th May.

  • TRAIN TO BUSAN – A mysterious viral outbreak pushes Korea into a state of emergency. The government declares martial law just as divorced Seok-woo and his daughter catch the KTX bullet train from Seoul to Busan to see her mother. But someone on the journey has been recently infected, sending the hurtling carriages into complete chaos. As the living dead transform the voyage into a nightmare excursion, father and daughter and a small group of uninfected passengers must fight for survival. Get on board to stay alive!
  • TRAIN TO BUSAN PRESENTS: PENINSULA – Four years after South Korea’s total decimation in TRAIN TO BUSAN, the zombie outbreak thriller that captivated audiences worldwide, acclaimed director Yeon Sang-ho brings us PENINSULA, the next nail-biting chapter in his post-apocalyptic world. Jung-seok (Gang Dong-won), a soldier who previously escaped the diseased wasteland, relives the horror when assigned to a covert operation on the quarantined peninsula with two simple objectives: retrieve and survive. When his team unexpectedly stumbles upon survivors, their lives will depend on whether the best—or worst—of human nature prevails in the direst of circumstances.

Yeon Sang-ho’s horror about a zombie virus spreading aboard a high-speed train received critical acclaim due to its mix of intense action and emotional bite, with iconic filmmaker Edgar Wright (Shaun of the Dead) naming TRAIN TO BUSAN the “best zombie movie I’ve seen in forever”. The film was a box office sensation, transforming break-out star Ma Dong-seok (also known as Don Lee) into one of South Korea’s most successful actors – leading to his Hollywood debut as Gilgamesh in Marvel Studios’ Eternals.

The film also established a franchise including TRAIN TO BUSAN PRESENTS: PENINSULA, with Yeon Sang-ho back at the helm for a standalone sequel set four-years later, about a former soldier who must return to the now-zombie infested country on a retrieval mission, only to stumble upon survivors who haunt his past. With a Mad Max-style dystopian vision, Train to Busan Presents: Peninsula is “a rollicking ride through a hollowed-out hellscape” according to IGN, and was one of the UK’s best-selling foreign language films of 2020.

Director Yeon Sang-Ho, who is directing Netflix’s upcoming Parasyte: The Grey, a brand-new adaptation of Hitoshi Iwaaki’s acclaimed horror manga, has been called “a standout voice in the genre” by Bloody Disgusting. With a sequel to PENINSULA currently in the works, fans won’t want to miss a chance to experience these films in stunning 4K.

TRAIN TO BUSAN and TRAIN TO BUSAN PRESENTS: PENINSULA are available to buy on 4K UHD from 27th May 2024.
