Watch Jake Gyllenhaal in the trailer for Doug Liman’s Road House remake
In this adrenaline-fueled reimagining of the 80s cult classic, ex-UFC fighter Dalton (Jake Gyllenhaal) takes a job as a bouncer at a Florida Keys roadhouse, only to discover that this paradise is not all it seems.
Directed by Doug Liman (The Bourne Identity, Mr. & Mrs. Smith, Edge of Tomorrow), the film stars Jake Gyllenhaal, Daniela Melchior, Billy Magnussen, Jessica Williams, Joaquim de Almeida, Conor McGregor, Lukas Gage, Arturo Castro, B.K. Cannon, Beau Knapp, Darren Barnet, Dominique Columbus, Bob Menery, Catfish Jean, Kevin Carroll, Travis Van Winkle, and Hannah Lanier.
Despite Doug Liman wanting the film to have premiered in cinemas, it will instead stream globally on Prime Video from 21st March.
I am still not sure on this one, but Liman has made some excellent action thrillers plus Gyllenhaal always gives a great performance. I have always had a soft spot for the original Patrick Swayze film, but I do wonder if this one new one will surprise us.
The trailer does seem to show the film will be following the main beats of the original, but I hope it has a few twists and turns that mark it as something different. We shall have to wait and see.
As I always say, the original film will always be there and you do occasionally get a decent remake. Hopefully, this one will be the latter kind or at least get people to revisit the original.
