A couple gets caught in Quicksand in the trailer for the new indie horror film

As a kid I always remember being afraid of quicksand. I never actually encountered it in real life, but whenever I was at the beach it was at the back of my mind. It must have been something I had seen in a film or TV show. Then I saw Jaws and just didn’t want to be anywhere near the ocean for a while…or any large body of water for that matter, so not being near any sand solved that problem.

However, the new film from Shudder is going all in on the fear of being caught in quicksand and you can watch the trailer below.

In Quicksand, an American couple on the brink of divorce goes to Colombia for a work conference. While on a hike through the rainforest, a storm causes them to become trapped in a pit of quicksand. Unable to move, it becomes a struggle for survival as they battle the elements of the jungle and a venomous snake, in order to escape.

Directed by Andrés Beltrán, the film stars Carolina Gaitàn, Allan Hawco, Andrés Castañeda and Sebastian Eslava.

Quicksand hits Shudder on 14th July.
