Fede Álvarez’s new Alien movie gets some more cast and a small synopsis
Fede Álvarez is working on a new Alien movie, which will be the ninth in the series. The film already stars Cailee Spaeny and they will be joined by David Jonsson, Archie Renaux, Isabela Merced, Spike Fearn and Aileen Wu.
If that sounds like the cast for a teen slasher movie, then the synopsis seems to be also pointing that way.
A group of young people on a distant world, who find themselves in a confrontation with the most terrifying life form in the universe.
To be honest, I think I am down with that. I would rather have an Alien movie that focuses on the Aliens rather than the A.I. Androids of Prometheus and Covenant. Having a group of people being hunted down by the original Xenomorph, Alien or whatever you want to call it should hopefully bring the horror back to the creature.
Álvarez (Evil Dead, Don’t Breathe) can do horror and suspense extremely well so I am happy with how this is shaping up.
What would you like to see in a new Alien movie?
According to Variety, 20th Century Studios announced that the ninth film in the franchise will begin production on 9th March in Budapest.
Fede Alvarez serves as the director, screenwriter and producer. Under the Scott Free banner, original “Alien” director, Ridley Scott serves as an executive producer with Michael Pruss (“Our Friend”). Scott and Pruss are joined by producers Brent O’Connor (“Bullet Train”), Elizabeth Cantillon (“Persuasion”) and Tom Moran (“The Donut King”).
