The Five Devils – Léa Mysius’s new film starring Adèle Exarchopoulos gets a trailer
MUBI has announced that Léa Mysius’s (Ava) enigmatic, mysterious tale The Five Devils will open theatrically in the UK and Ireland on 24 March 2023 and will stream exclusively on MUBI from 12 May 2023.
Starring Adèle Exarchopoulos (Blue is the Warmest Colour), Daphne Patakia (Benedetta), Swala Emati, Moustapha Mbengue, and introducing Sally Dramé, The Five Devils received its World Premiere at the 2022 Cannes Film Festival in Directors’ Fortnight.
Vicky (Sally Dramé), a strange and solitary little girl, has a magical gift: she can reproduce any scent she likes, and collects them in a series of carefully labeled jars. She has secretly captured the scent of Joanne (Adèle Exarchopoulos), her mother for whom she nurtures a wild, excessive love. When her father’s sister Julia (Swala Emati) bursts into their life, Vicky reproduces her smell and is transported into dark and archaic memories which lead her to uncover the secrets of her village, her family and her own existence.
The Five Devils will be released in cinemas in the UK and Ireland on 24 March 2023 and on MUBI from 12 May 2023.
