Liam Neeson is set to star in Neil Jordan’s The Riker’s Ghost
Liam Neeson is set to star in director Neil Jordan’s (The Crying Game, Marlowe, Interview with a Vampire) upcoming thriller The Riker’s Ghost, it was announced by Capstone’s Christian Mercuri. The leading Los Angeles based production and sales company is handling international sales and will introduce to buyers at the upcoming European Film Market. CAA Media Finance is handling US rights.
Parallel Film’s Alan Moloney and Endurance Media’s Steve Richards will produce. Jake Katofsky and Susan Mullen will co-produce with Rupert Wyatt also serving as producer. In addition to producing, Richards’ Endurance will also finance.
This is a reuniting in many ways for Jordan, Neeson, and Moloney, who recently teamed up to make the mystery thriller Marlowe. Neeson and Richards, have worked together on a number of titles including the action thriller Non-Stop, which made over $222.8 million in global box-office, and mystery-thriller Unknown, which made $136.1 million in global box-office, among others.
The film, written by Sean O’Keefe (Spenser Confidential), Brian Rudnick (Dungeons & Dragons), and Jordan is set to commence principal photography from September 2023.
The Riker’s Ghost follows a convict set for release (Neeson) who is forced to break a terrorist out of prison, when his lawyer is kidnapped, as he is the only one who knows a way out.
“This is a unique take on the prison escape,” said Jordan. “A bare knuckle ride from incarceration to freedom, by someone who just wants to finish his term. The reluctant escapee will be played by Liam Neeson, and I can’t wait to explore this character with him.”
“I am thrilled to be joining forces again with Neil and Liam,” said Moloney. “We have put together an elite team to support Neil’s scripted and directorial vision. This one will have you on the edge of your seat.”
One of today’s most recognizable stars, Neeson has appeared in some of the most iconic films including Taken, Schindler’s List, and Batman Begins. With over 100 combined film, television, and stage credits to his name, Neeson has many new films plowing towards the screen, including Retribution from director Nimród Antal and Lionsgate. Over the course of his career, Neeson’s films have grossed over $7 billion worldwide. Neeson is represented by Chris Andrews at CAA.
