StudioCanal and The New Yorker have released the first images from Cat Person
STUDIOCANAL and The New Yorker Studios confirmed today that Susanna Fogel’s (The Flight Attendant, The Wilds) genre-bending thriller, CAT PERSON, will World Premiere at Sundance Film Festival in January 2023. Two first look stills have been released.
Adapted by Michelle Ashford (Masters of Sex, The Pacific, Operation Mincemeat) from The New Yorker’s acclaimed short story by Kristen Roupenian, CAT PERSON is produced by Jeremy Steckler (Only the Brave, The Old Man & The Gun) and The New Yorker Studios’ Helen Estabrook (Whiplash, Tully). Susanna Fogel, Michelle Ashford and Daniel Hank will executive produce.
The film stars Emilia Jones (CODA), Nicholas Braun (Succession, Zola), Geraldine Viswanathan (Untitled Ethan Coen Project, The Beanie Bubble, The Broken Hearts Gallery), Hope Davis (Your Honor), Fred Melamed (A Serious Man), Liza Koshy (Liza on Demand), Michael Gandolfini (The Many Saints of Newark) and Isabella Rossellini (Joy).
When Margot (Emilia Jones), a college sophomore goes on a date with the older Robert (Nicholas Braun), she finds that IRL Robert doesn’t live up to the Robert she has been flirting with over texts. CAT PERSON is a razor-sharp exploration of the gender divide, the quagmire of navigating modern dating and the dangerous projections we make in our minds about the person at the other end of our phones.
STUDIOCANAL is fully financing and will release in their own territories – the UK, France, Germany, Australia & New Zealand – and are selling the film worldwide.
