1. Some Like It Hot (1959)
Marilyn Monroe is one of the most famous Americans. However, over the years, her acting career seems to have faded to the background. Check out this raunchy comedy from the super star. The film also features Tony Curtis and Jack Lemmon.
In this movie, Curtis and Lemmon have to dress as women in order to escape from the Mafia. This cross-dressing does not prevent Monroe from engaging in a love affair, prompting censorship when it was released and condemnation from the church. In fact, in Kansas, it was only played in theaters after cutting thirty minutes from an on-ship love scene.
For those interested in learning more about Monroe, you can check out several documentaries including The Secret Life of Marilyn Monroe (2015). This is a documentary series that focuses on the role of paparazzi and a prying press in the life of the young star. Despite living only to 36 years old, the star was extremely prolific and left her mark on cinema.
2. Vegas Vacation (1997)
This is the fourth installment in National Lampoon’s Vacation series and stars Chevy Chase, Beverly D’Angelo, Randy Quaid, Wayne Newton, Ethan Embry, and Wallace Shawn. The film follows the protagonist to romantic Las Vegas where he plans to renew his vows to Ellen. Vegas is a great city for comedy. If you have ever been to Vegas, you can imagine the jokes.

3. Austin Powers: The Spy Who Shagged Me (1999)
Another film that covers a wide-range of adult topics is this film starring Michael Meyers, Will Ferrell, Seth Green, Elizabeth Hurley, and Mindy Sterling. The film series is a spoof on James Bond flicks and touches on everything including alcohol, sharks with lasers on their heads, and strange sexual encounters. Yes, they have it all!
Many people forget about Ferrell in this movie. In fact, there are lots of Will Ferrell movies the public forgets about. Given the all-star cast in this film, it is no surprise that one of them can slip through the cracks. If you love this film, you can check out the rest of the series. There are three in total.
4. American Pie (1999)
Who could forget this classic from the 1990s? Starring Jason Biggs, Sean William Scott, and Eugene Levy, this film follows adolescents who are struggling to come to age and expand their sexual conquests. This film left its mark and has produced a number of spin-offs. It also left its mark with a number of scenes that have become meme-like tropes surrounding band camp, or apple pie, for example.
There seems to be a whole genre around men seeking to get rid of their virginity. Whether it’s the teenagers in American Pie or the mid-life crisis in The 40-Year-Old Virgin, there is something the public seems to find funny, and perhaps relatable, about the journey, joys, and anxieties of losing one’s virginity.
