One Piece Film: Red is heading to UK and Ireland cinemas
One Piece has never sounded this good. After breaking its own world record for comic sales once more and launching its landmark 1000th anime episode, the beloved franchise will sail into the fair seas of the United Kingdom and Ireland this autumn with One Piece Film: Red, exclusively in cinemas. With an original story from series creator Eiichiro Oda, this music-filled adventure will change the lives of the Straw Hat Pirates forever.
Uta — the most beloved singer in the world. Renowned for concealing her own identity when performing, her voice has come to be described as “otherworldly.” Now, for the first time ever, Uta will reveal herself to the world at a live concert. As the venue fills with all kinds of Uta fans — excited pirates, the Navy watching closely, and the Straw Hats led by Luffy who simply came to enjoy her sonorous performance — the voice that the whole world has been waiting for is about to resound. The story begins with the shocking fact that she is Shanks’ daughter.
One Piece Film: Red is the 15th feature film and an original story based on characters from the best-selling Weekly Shonen JUMP manga series, with the original creator Eiichiro Oda overseeing the project as Executive Producer. Oda also designed the new original characters for the film, including Uta, the most beloved singer in the world – and the daughter of Shanks, the legendary pirate who inspired the series’ protagonist Monkey D. Luffy. One Piece Film: Red is directed by Goro Taniguchi, who previously helmed One Piece: Defeat Him! The Pirate Ganzack!, the very first One Piece animation, with a screenplay by Tsutomu Kuroiwa (One Piece Film: Gold).
“One Piece is deeply loved in the United Kingdom and Ireland, and rightly so,” says Andrew Partridge, CEO and Co-Founder of Anime Limited. “It’s our privilege and honour to be able to bring such an exhilarating chapter of the One Piece saga to the big screen in the biggest way possible.”
One Piece Film: Red is the latest film to join Cine Matsuri, a jam-packed season of exciting and diverse anime films coming to cinemas across the United Kingdom and Ireland throughout the summer and autumn. Keep an eye out for regular updates about Cine Matsuri from Anime Limited in the near future!
One Piece Film: Red will be shown in selected cinemas in Autumn 2022 in both Japanese with English subtitles, as well as an English language dub.
