Warwick Davis returns as Willow in the trailer for the new fantasy series

Disney+ unveiled the teaser trailer for Lucasfilm and Imagine Entertainment’s Willow an all-new live-action fantasy adventure series based on the classic 1988 feature film, at the Lucasfilm studio showcase panel at Star Wars Celebration in Anaheim today. “Willow” will premiere November 30, 2022, exclusively on Disney+.

The show is described as “an epic period fantasy series with a modern sensibility set in an enchanted land of breathtaking beauty”, and features a diverse international cast with Jonathan Kasdan, Ron Howard, Wendy Mericle, Kathleen Kennedy, and Michelle Rejwan serving as executive producers.

The story began with an aspiring magician from a Nelwyn village and an infant girl destined to unite the realms, who together helped destroy an evil queen and banish the forces of darkness. Now, in a magical world where brownies, sorcerers, trolls, and other mystical creatures flourish, the adventure continues, as an unlikely group of heroes set off on a dangerous quest to places far beyond their home, where they must face their inner demons and come together to save their world.

The series sees Warwick Davis return to the role of Willow Ufgood. He is joined by Erin Kellyman (The Falcon and the Winter Soldier), Ellie Bamber (The Serpent), Tony Revolori (Spider-Man: Homecoming), Ruby Cruz (Mare of Easttown), Amer Chadha-Patel (The Third Day), and Dempsey Bryk. Joanne Whalley also returns to reprise her original “Willow” role as Sorsha.

With regards Val Kilmer, Executive producer Jonathan Kasdan spoke to Yahoo Entertainment and said “Val’s a huge part of this, and the first conversation I had, when Warwick and I got the green light to do this, was with Val. We wanted his character to be a part of the story. We wanted him to be in the show.”

“Because we were shooting during [the COVID-19 lockdowns], he wasn’t able to come to Wales and shoot with us. But he is in the show in a big way. And we’re pretty excited about it. Madmartigan lives on.”

“Val has been in communication with Joanen and I and Madmartigan is a character in the story and what we didn’t get to shoot with him on Season 1, we’ve made him a major figure in the story.”

Willow will premiere on 30th November 2022, exclusively on Disney+.
