Christopher Walken joins Denis Villeneuve’s Dune: Part Two

Christopher Walken is folding space and joining Timothée Chalamet, Zendaya, Rebecca Ferguson and Javier Bardem in Denis Villeneuve’s Dune: Part Two. Walken will be playing Emperor Shaddam IV in the adaptation of the Frank Herbert science fiction classic. Jose Ferrer played the part in David Lynch’s 1984 movie adaptation.

Part Two carries on the story with Paul Atreides (Chalamet) fighting alongside the Fremen to free the desert planet of Arrakis from the grips of House Harkonnen.

Florence Pugh (Black Widow, Midsommer) and Austin Butler (Elvis) are also joining the second film.

Pugh is playing Princess Irulan, the daughter of the emperor, while Butler is Feyd-Rautha, nephew of Baron Harkonnen. In the 1984 film, the roles were played by Virginia Madsen and Sting.

Shooting is set to begin this summer in Budapest, according to THR.

Executive producing are Josh Grode, David Valdes, Herbert W. Gains, Brian Herbert, Byron Merritt, Kim Herbert, Thomas Tull, Jon Spaihts, Richard P. Rubinstein and John Harrison.

I do feel Walken is a great choice to play Emperor Shaddam IV. I loved Dune: Part One and cannot wait to see the second half.
