Critical Role’s The Legend of Vox Machina gets a release date and an opening title sequence

The Legend of Vox Machina is the D&D animated show based on Critical Role’s first campaign. The team did a panel at NYCC yesterday and they announced the show will be released for Amazon Prime Video on 4th February 2022.

They also released the show’s opening title sequence and we see Vex’ahlia, Vax’ildan, Percival de Rolo, Pike Trickfoot, Keyleth, Scanlan Shorthalt, and Grog Strongjaw in all their glory.

The Legend of Vox Machina is an adult animated fantasy-adventure series that follows Vox Machina, a band of misfits with a fondness for boozing and brawling. In a desperate attempt to pay off their mounting bar tab, these unlikely heroes end up on a quest to save the realm of Exandria from dark magical forces. From a sinister necromancer to a powerful curse, the group confronts a variety of obstacles that not only test their skills, but also the strength of their bond.

The Legend of Vox Machina is based on the beloved characters and adventures of Critical Role’s first live-streamed tabletop role-playing game (RPG) campaign.

Laura Bailey, Taliesin Jaffe, Ashley Johnson, Liam O’Brien, Matthew Mercer, Marisha Ray, Sam Riegel, and Travis Willingham are all voicing their characters.

During New York Comic Con they also did a live read of a scene that you can watch below.

The cartoon is the result of one of the most successful Kickstarter projects of all time. That meant it went from one animated special to a 10 episode series. Then Amazon picked it up and it will now be 24 episodes split into two series which is just fantastic.

Critical Role’s third campaign kicks off on 21st October with all new characters who will meet in Marquet, in the world of Matt Mercer’s Exandria. It will be a great point to jump on board. If you are in the US you will even be able to watch the first episode in select cinemas!
