Five Films to Watch Before Halloween

Head to the candy aisle and grab your favorite sweets. Plug in that popcorn maker and create a batch of popcorn for everyone. Add the butter. Make sure you choose the perfect costume, too. Don’t forget to decorate your home with the perfect spooky decor. Halloween is upon us, and there are many ways to make it memorable.

Consider Halloween-appropriate films. There are certain movies that can make your Halloween season even more enjoyable. Below you will find a diverse collection of appropriate films. Pay attention, though, to which films are kid-friendly. Only two of these below suggestions are perfect for the whole family. The other three are for audiences 13 and older.

1. It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown

Not all Halloween-appropriate films are horror flicks. In fact, some of the more popular movies to consider are kid-friendly. Consider, for example, It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown. This movie is perfect for any family. If you don’t have kids, though, you still will enjoy it. Originally created by Charles Schulz as a TV movie, this favorite for many first aired in 1966. More than 50 years later, it’s still a sought-after movie to watch, especially as Halloween nears.

2. The Sixth Sense

For those of you with teenage kids, consider this spooky flick. The dynamic cast includes Bruce Willis, Donnie Wahlberg, and Haley Joel Osment. Since 1999, this hit film has been a go-to favorite around Halloween. The movie is loaded with frightening scenes, like when the character, Lynn Sear (Toni Collette), unexpectedly finds the kitchen cabinets and drawers open. If you and your family are interested in paranormal activity, look no further. The Sixth Sense is certain to please.

3. Boo! A Madea Halloween

As you search for the perfect movie, make sure you consider Tyler Perry’s films. Perry has created two Halloween-themed movies. The sequel also is a hit, but its precursor, Boo! A Madea Halloween particularly is rip-roaring funny. This movie is perfect for the Halloween season. Released to fans in 2016, the movie showcases Perry’s diverse talents as an actor, director, and writer. The main character, Madea, actually is Mr. Perry playing the role of a woman. He has done this with other films, but his work in this movie undoubtedly deserves your attention.

4. The Texas Chainsaw Massacre

Make sure there aren’t any children in the room. Even adults, though, might be too frightened to watch this film. A trip to a graveyard turns horrific for five teenagers in Texas. Throughout the film, various spooky scenes will keep you on edge. When the teens encounter a family of cannibals, though, the movie particularly becomes gruesome and horrific. A remake of The Texas Chainsaw Massacre was released in 2003. It, too, is worthy of your attention. The original, though, which was released in 1974, set a high bar for other horror filmmakers to follow. Check it out.

5. Ghostbusters

Loaded with an all-star cast that includes Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd, Rick Moranis, and Sigourney Weaver, Ghostbusters was a huge hit in the 1980s. It’s still a family favorite today, and the Halloween season is a perfect time to watch it. After its release in 1984, the film netted more than $280 million. It quickly became a pop-culture fixture, and its soundtrack too was a huge hit. The album rose to the sixth spot in the Billboard 200. It is as popular now as it ever was. Any family will enjoy this movie.
