Rob Zombie is directing The Munsters movie

Turns out Rob Zombie (The Devil’s Rejects) has wanted to make a film based on The Munsters TV show for the past 20 years. While it had been rumoured for a while, Zombie has officially announced his new film project for Universal. He will be writing and directing the film.

It is not something I had expected, but I am now curious to see what he does with it. I imagine the horror elements will be turned up somewhat, but other than that I have no idea what will be in it.

70 episodes of The Munsters aired on CBS from 1964 to 1966.

Murphy’s Multiverse reported that Sheri Moon Zombie and Jeff Daniel Phillips will be playing Lily and Herman Munster. Richard Brake, Dan Roebuck, Jorge Garcia and Cassandra Peterson (Elvira) are also thought to be starring in the film.
