Adam Wingard is going to direct a sequel to Face/Off

Face/Off was the 1997 John Woo-directed action thriller that starred John Travolta and Nicolas Cage. One was a cop, the other a criminal and they ended up swapping faces and trying to kill each other. It was a lot of fun and featured peak Nic Cage.

Adam Wingard, director of You’re Next and the forthcoming Godzilla vs. Kong is going to direct a sequel to the original film for Paramount Pictures.

There is no word on what the exact plot will be, but it appears that the leads will be recast according to Deadline.

I do wonder whether it will even feature the original characters or will it just be in the world where the face-swapping procedure is now more common for undercover cops to use?

It had originally been rumoured to be a remake, but a sequel sits better for me, even if it ends up being one of those soft reboots that Hollywood likes to do.

What would you like to see in a Face/Off sequel?
