The quest is calling in the new version of HeroQuest

Deep inside another dimension, face battling barbarians and evil magic on a quest for adventure in a maze of monsters. This is HeroQuest, the fantasy adventure game, where winning means mastering the art of combat and magic. Once you get into it, you’ll never be the same.

HeroQuest was the amazing fantasy board game from 1989 by Milton Bradley in conjunction with the British company Games Workshop. I have many great memories of playing it with my friends. You can still get copies of it on eBay but they can be rather expensive.

However, Hasbro is releasing a new, updated version of the game. They have gone the crowdfunding route for the game and there is the Heroic Tier for $99.99 and the Mythic Tier of $149.99. There will also be a few stretch goeals.

Considering how much original copies of the game are going for, that’s not too bad. Plus the new miniatures are brilliant and I can see them being used in various Dungeons and Dragons games as well.

“While the gameplay featured in the original 1989 version of HeroQuest will remain true,” said brand manager Patrick O’Rourke, “the game will be updated to deliver the high-quality experience it deserves.”

It is a little concerning that it only appears to be available to the USA and Canada at the moment. A damn shame, especially as the original was co-designed with Games Workshop here in the UK.

The Heroic Tier includes the core HeroQuest game system (featuring 71 highly detailed character and furniture miniatures) as well as 4 bonus hero miniatures and 1 exclusive miniature (Sir Ragnar) only available during the HasLab campaign.

The Mythic Tier includes the Heroic Tier offer (featuring 71 highly detailed character and furniture miniatures as well as 4 bonus hero miniatures and 1 exclusive miniature only available during the HasLab campaign) as well as 2 game expansions, 2 more exclusive figures, and all available unlocks.

Will you be backing Heroquest?
