Cyberpunk: Edgerunners – Watch the trailer for new Cyberpunk 2077 anime

CD Projekt Red is bringing us the Cyberpunk 2077 video game, which I am really looking forward to.

They have also teamed up with Netflix and Studio Trigger on Cyberpunk: Edgerunners, a new 10 episode anime series. It takes place in the same universe as the game, but will feature new characters and a new story.

Hiroyuki Imaishi (Kill La Kill, Promare) will direct the series, alongside assistant director Masahiko Otsuka and creative director Hiromi Wakabayashi. Akira Yamaoka (Silent Hill) will score the series.

“I’ve always loved cyberpunk as a genre, but always found it difficult to create as an original work,” said Imaishi. “This is why I’m very excited to be working with CD Projekt Red on this project. It won’t be easy to please both game and anime fans, but I love a challenge.”

The first season is scheduled to arrive on Netflix in 2022.

CD Projekt Red will launch Cyberpunk 2077 on 19th November 2020 for PlayStation 4, Windows PC, and Xbox One. Players can upgrade to the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X versions of the game for free.
