Ryan Gosling will be Universal’s Wolfman

With The Invisible Man it looked like Universal had found a way to bring back their classic monsters in a modern setting that worked.

They are pushing ahead and it looks like Ryan Gosling (Drive, Blade Runner 2049) is going to be the new Wolfman. The film is based on an original pitch from Gosling. Lauren Schuker Blum and Rebecca Angelo, who wrote for Netflix’s “Orange is the New Black,” are writing the script.

No word on the plot of the new film, but it is believed to be set in present times and in the vein of Jake Gyllenhaal’s thriller “Nightcrawler,” with an obvious supernatural twist. As you could have easily made Gyllenhaal’s character a vampire in that film, it’s a good basis for a monster movie.

According to Variety, the studio is still in meetings with directors but Cory Finley (Bad Education) appears to be the favourite.

What would you like to see in a new Wolfman movie?
