George Miller confirms there is a Mad Max: Furiosa prequel movie in the works but Charlize Theron won’t be in it
The New York Times recently posted an Oral History about the making of Mad Max: Fury Road which is now five years old. It features George Miller, Tom Hardy, Charlie Theron and other members of the cast and crew talking about the film.
It is well worth a read and takes a deep dive into many aspects of the film.
Miller did confirm that he is working on the long rumoured Furiosa movie. However, it seems that Charlize Theron will not be back to play the character. The main reason is because it will be a prequel film for the character. Miller had considered using CG to de-age Theron, but he is now looking to cast a younger actress in the role. Anya Taylor Joy is rumoured to be in the running for the role.
The plan is to begin work on it once Miller finishes Three Thousand Years of Longing, a drama with Tilda Swinton and Idris Elba.
“So after we finish it, and hopefully everything settles down with the pandemic, we’ll see what the world allows us to do with Furiosa,” Miller said.
There is no other word on what or who to expect in the film, but Miller had been writing an extensive backstory for Furiosa and other characters while making Fury Road. Whatever happens I am sure there will be some crazy vehicle action in the movie.
What would you like to see in a Furiosa prequel movie?
