NASA confirms they are working with Tom Cruise to make a film in space
Yesterday came word, via Deadline, that Tom Cruise was planning on making a film in space. An action-adventure film but not related to the Mission: Impossible films. Elon Musk’s SpaceX and NASA were rumoured to be involved but no studio was in the mix.
That was pretty much the story, and as we all know Tom Cruise loves to do his own stunts it is not that surprising that he was thinking of doing this.
However, NASA Administrator Jim Bridenstine has now confirmed the news and that the plan is to film it on the International Space Station (ISS).
NASA has previously talked about opening the ISS to more commercial ventures. Bridenstine states that using the ISS for this would help “to inspire a new generation of engineers and scientists”

SpaceX is close to certifying its first human-rated spacecraft for service. Crew Dragon is readying for a launch on May 27, carrying NASA astronauts for the first time during a demonstration mission.
This is all still early days and the price tag for doing this will be something that any studio will be looking at very closely before committing.
How do you feel about shooting a film on the ISS?
